Child Contact Center

Our child contact center in Birmingham provides a comfortable meeting place where children can enjoy time with their parents or relatives. There’s a trained team of staff who provide a range of child contact services 7 days a week.

Based in Highgate, it’s one of the most centrally based child contact centers in Birmingham. There’s good access to the motorway network, free parking. The center is also within a short walk of bus routes.

Aims and Objectives

For some people, the idea of visiting a contact center for the first time can seem daunting. We aim to make child contact a positive experience for everyone. Our main aim is to facilitate safe contact between children and non-resident parents.

While children’s needs come first, we believe it’s also important to make parents feel comfortable, so they enjoy the time they spend with their children.

Our main objectives are to:

  • Create an environment that promotes positive child-parent contact

  • Promote and ensure the safety and welfare of children at all times

  • Offer a sensitive, supportive approach to the concept of contact

  • Develop a flexible, client-centered service that’s easy to access

  • Be responsive to the views expressed by children and their families

  • Maintain high standards while working towards improving the service

Facilities

Having gained enhanced accreditation by the National Association of Child Contact Centers (NACCC), we’re happy to facilitate supported or supervised contact. You will find there are few contact centers in Birmingham or the West Midlands that facilitate both.

The center has 5 rooms designated for family contact, including one that’s suitable for children who would benefit from a sensory experience. Games, toys and activities are available for children of all ages; along with light refreshments.

Rooms are designed to stimulate natural behaviors between family members and facilities reflect the diverse needs of children affected by family breakdown. As a visitor to the center you will experience a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We also have an outdoor area for children to play in the fresh air.

Guidelines for Using the Contact Center

All staff working at a child contact center have a duty to promote the safety and welfare of children. Therefore there are a few basic rules and guidelines for using the center. We want to keep the number of rules to a minimum, while still safeguarding children and addressing child protection issues.

If you choose to use the center you will have to agree to adhere to our guidelines.
